Challenge
Wellington’s port company suffered significant damage in the November 2016 Kaikoura earthquake. SenateSHJ was asked to develop and implement a communication strategy for the media and stakeholders.
Approach
SenateSHJ supported CentrePort with its communication during the ongoing recovery planning and operations. This included government and media relations work, extensive stakeholder engagement and event management.
We helped the company’s leadership communicate quickly and clearly, while getting to grips with the technical details of port operations and using our pre-existing networks across the public and private sector.
Outcome
SenateSHJ’s strategy and implementation activities helped protect CentrePort’s reputation during the most adverse event in its history. We continue to work with the port, as it builds resilience into its business and resumes its path to growth.
